Soft Armour
This project deals with a state in which a body that seems to be standing at the starting line is already starting to move, but the mind is trapped in distrust of itself and cannot follow. I believed I was ready, but I didn't really believe in myself, and that distrust manifested itself in a split between the mind and the body, a strange starting position. It was like a posture of shrinking and freezing while trying to escape, and I felt like my body was about to explode under pressure to move more and more. This process was inspired by Akira's scene where an uncontrolled body abnormally expands and collapses. This work visualized the contradictory energy of a twisted body in a psychological stationary state using repeated self-photography, metal structures, and mechanical arms. Ultimately, the work expressed the crack between the body that started to move, the mind that stopped, and the mind that collapsed in the gap.
